SSO

SSP Yhtiöt Oy delivered the phones as a service. The service also includes a centralised MX ONE-based PBX service.

SSO (Suur Seudun Osuuskauppa) has for a long time been using Aastra's and previously Ericsson's products. Aastra's corporate communications systems are being used in the entire SSO sector: Prisma stores, the Terra interior decoration store, ABC service station stores, S-markets and PP-Auto Oy.

The company's voice solutions were supplied by SSP Yhtiöt Oy, which provides the solutions to SSO as a comprehensive service. SSO wanted to develop a unified communications system in its Agrimarket stores, which integrates an outsourced transfer service. This means the number range and distributed offices could be brought under the same functionality. When personnel are able to use communications tools they are familiar with, job rotation and personnel mobility from one office to another are easier.

SSO's IT manager Jouni Järvinen says IP phones were selected since the company wanted to use its telecommunications networks in a more comprehensive manner. The phone user's duties determine whether the person has a DECT phone or a mobile extension. If the duties do not require working outside the workplace, a DECT phone is selected.

"“We were looking for a unified phone system. Previously, we had small separate PBXs and now we acquired the new PBX operations as a service from SSP.”"
Jouni Järvinen, IT Manager, Suur-Seudun Osuuskauppa

In all, SSO has a couple of hundred DECT users within the Salo and Lohja economic area. Järvinen says that the phones have been well received among users. In terms of information management, the solution is practical since the phones acquired as a service do not tie up additional resources.

The service model facilitates budgeting

“The service model has worked well. Budgeting is also extremely easy when we know the euro amount to be reserved for each extension per month,” says Jouni Järvinen, IT manager at SSO. Järvinen also emphasises the importance of long-term cooperation.

According to him, it is easy to find solutions when the supplier is familiar with the company. That helps to avoid situations like in one of the Prisma stores where the telephony partner changed almost every year, which was very challenging in terms of maintenance.
