RTL Television GmbH

German TV broadcaster RTL is moving to a new location within Cologne in 2010, switching from Junkersdorf on the left bank of the Rhine to Deutz on the right. Part of a former trade-fair ground has been converted especially for the purpose of RTL facilities relocation. VOX and n-tv, two other TV broadcasters based in Cologne that are part of the RTL Group, have already moved to the new central site along with a number of other firms belonging to the group such as IP Deutschland.

Besides having its headquarters in Cologne, RTL also runs studios in other locations, such as Berlin’s government district, Munich and Frankfurt. RTL employs its own correspondents at its foreign studios in New York, Brussels, London, Paris, Jerusalem, Beijing and Moscow for its news coverage.
Due to the move, RTL required a modern VoIP system at its new site to meet its advanced security requirements and broader needs regarding communication.

A migration solution was created based on a special contract. RTL will be supplied with an Aastra MX-ONE® TS 4.0 at its new site and 2,300 employees will be connected to the network in a decentralised system with 10 LIMs (Line Interface Modules).
